FAQs
  • What is a modular cleanroom?

A cleanroom is a controlled environment designed to maintain cleanliness by minimizing the presence of particles and microbes. Within these enclosed spaces, factors such as humidity, temperature, and pressure are carefully regulated. A modular cleanroom is a type of cleanroom built with prefabricated materials (manufactured offsite) that can be quickly and easily assembled on-site, reducing both costs and construction timelines.
Modular cleanrooms are highly versatile, allowing for easy expansion, relocation, repurposing, or removal to meet the evolving needs of your industry. They can be tailored to any specifications and cleanliness levels required.
  • What are the benefits of a modular cleanroom?

    形状 Created with Sketch.
Modular cleanrooms offer several advantages over traditional cleanrooms. First, they are much quicker and easier to install, allowing you to resume operations without significant downtime. Second, they are highly adaptable, capable of being moved, reconfigured, or expanded to fit any space within the facility. Lastly, they are more cost-effective than traditional cleanrooms due to their prefabricated components and fast installation process.

  • What kind of cleanroom do l need?
    Created with Sketch.
    形状 Created with Sketch.
The type of cleanroom best suited for your business depends on its intended use. There are three basic types of cleanrooms:
1)HardWall Cleanrooms: These are ideal for applications with strict cleanroom classification requirements. They feature solid, prefabricated panels and aluminum frames, offering a robust, secure environment for sensitive production processes.
2)SoftWall Cleanrooms: Suitable for most cleanroom classifications, SoftWall cleanrooms are made of vinyl curtains and aluminum frames. However, they may not be the best choice for environments that require precise temperature and humidity control due to the flexibility of the materials.
3)RigidWall Cleanrooms: Combining the benefits of both HardWall and SoftWall rooms, RigidWall cleanrooms feature aluminum frames and clear acrylic panels. They offer durability and security while maintaining the visibility typical of SoftWall rooms.
If you’re uncertain which cleanroom type is best for your needs, our experts at Amber are here to assist you. We will help you evaluate your requirements and recommend the optimal solution.

  • How do l know which cleanroom classification l need?
    Created with Sketch.
    形状 Created with Sketch.
All cleanrooms must meet specific classifications or guidelines, such as ISO, NAPRA, or USP 797. Cleanliness is determined by the maximum allowable level of contamination within the clean space. Different classifications correspond to varying levels of cleanliness. ISO Class 6-8 classifications are more lenient, allowing for normal room air at the lowest levels, while ISO Class 1-5 classifications are more stringent and may require advanced air filtration systems. HEPA filtration, pressurization design, clean construction, and proper gowning procedures are essential for all classifications.
For example, pharmaceutical cleanrooms demand the highest standards of cleanliness to ensure that contamination does not compromise the efficacy of drugs. These environments require rigorous ISO classifications to maintain safety and performance.
  • What regulations and standards must l comply with?

    形状 Created with Sketch.
Standards and regulations of your cleanroom always depend on your industry and applications. Any cleanroom must be built for a certain Biological Safety Level and must comply with ISO classifications. Depending on your corporation you might have to comply with FDA or GMP (The Good Manufacturing Practices) regulations. Our team of experts will help you design a cleanroom compliant with given regulations to ensure you get your validation and certification.

  • How long does it take to get a fully functioning cleanroom?
    Created with Sketch.
    形状 Created with Sketch.
The installation timeline for a modular cleanroom depends on its size and complexity, but it is significantly faster than traditional cleanroom construction. The design drawings typically take no more than one week to complete. Once components are delivered and checked, your modular cleanroom can be fully installed and operational within just a few weeks.
  • How much does it cost to get a modular cleanroom?
    Created with Sketch.
    形状 Created with Sketch.
Modular cleanroom costs are influenced by factors such as size, design complexity, classification (Class 1-9), type (HardWall, SoftWall, RigidWall), and additional features (biological safety cabinets, air filtration, etc.). However, the costs are generally more competitive compared to traditional cleanrooms, thanks to the streamlined design and installation process. Moreover, the reduction in waste, unused materials, and lost items during construction helps lower overall expenses.

  • Will my cleanroom need additional features in the future?
    Created with Sketch.
    形状 Created with Sketch.
The great thing about modular cleanrooms is their adaptability and flexibility. No matter what the future holds for your industry and your business specifically you can trust your cleanroom will be able to adapt to changes. You can easily move your cleanroom to a different location, expand it, or even sell it if you no longer need it. Additional features like airlocks, gowning room, or biological safety cabinets can be implemented in your existing room at any time. If you foresee your industry growing, you might want to design the cleanroom with future expansion in mind.
