The Difference Between Air Handing Unit (AHU) And Air Conditioner (AC)

The Air Handing Unit serves as equipment which controls temperature while also managing humidity and ventilates the air through quality enhancement. It combines the functions of an air handling unit, processing air through components such as FFU, filters and heating/cooling coils.

The Air Conditioner serves as a temperature and moisture control system in enclosed spaces by conducting refrigerant evaporation and condensation processes to cool air.

Differences

1.Function

AHU systems handle centralized air treatment through combination processes of filtering and heating and cooling and humidification with ventilating capacities for larger industrial and commercial buildings like the Cleanroom.

The primary purpose of air conditioners is cooling while their limited scope makes them suitable for treating individual rooms along with small areas.

2.Scale

Building-wide air treatment systems usually install AHU units inside buildings as their large size makes them suitable for whole building use.

The design of an AC results in a compact unit that delivers limited cooling coverage to a single space.

3.System Integration

AHUs operate as interconnected systems with HVAC units to manage complete building airflow.

Each air conditioner unit operates independently for individual cooling operations.

4.Air Filtration

Improved airflow filtration structures exist within AHU.

AC serves to cool different spaces while using filtration that provides no higher than basic protection.
